Lucy Beagle Puppy Female in Worcester, Massachusetts

My story
Please read full description!!! Lucy was recently returned and available again because her previous adopter was not a good fit. She’s in a foster home now where she’s working on socialization and potty training and she has been very receptive to her training. Once she is more comfortable she can start obedience training. Lucy is very sweet just scared she needs someone home a lot who’s dedicated to working with her.Hi! My name is Lucy and I am looking for a special home. I am a 10 month old purebred Beagle who tips the scales at 17 lbs. I may have a bit of growing to do since I am still a puppy but I will not be too much bigger. If you ask me, I am just the perfect size (not too small, not too large). My ideal family would have everyone old enough to participate in my training and a friendly, confident, playful dog to be my guide. Sometimes men scare me so guys your going to have to spend time on the floor with treats every day until I feel comfortable around you. To be completely honest, humans in general scare me! I did not get the best start in life, and experience has taught me to be very cautious with people. Strangers= danger. When I get scared and the choice is fight or flight, I choose flight. For this reason, my future home will need to have a fenced yard and I will need close supervision (on leash all the time) until I am feeling safe and secure. Timid and shy am I. Please note that another dog is an absolute must as I am most comfortable with my own kind right now. Another dog will be able to show me the ropes and help me understand that humans can be trusted.I am good in my crate although I may need a nudge to go in there. I am still working on my potty training skills but with a fenced yard and a patient, loving family, I know I can master that. Because of my fearfulness, I am not yet ready to venture out for walks. Here is what it takes to be my people:1. Patience, I’m going to need time to get used to you and I'm going to have the occasional accidents in the house at first.2. Commitment to socializing me slowly and gradually. (I can’t go to large gatherings or trips to beaches, playgrounds, or areas with lots of people and noise) I am a pandemic baby and social distancing is my thing (at least for now).3. Willingness to work with a professional trainer to help me be the best that I can be.4. Fenced in yard appropriate for a small dog without any gaps or spaces I could squeeze under.5. Another friendly affectionate dog.6. Someone home a lot, if I’m always home by myself it’s going to take a very very long time for me to get comfortable. The more time you spend with me the faster I’ll come around. If you can provide these things, you will be richly rewarded with a beautiful, loving, canine companion for years to come.Lucy is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, negative for heartworm and Lyme diseases and microchipped. Shes amazing with the two young small dogs and friendly cat in her foster home. She’s fine around kids but older kids proffered that understand she’s scared and won’t chase her or leave the gate open.If you are interested in finding out more about Lucy, please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser:http://bit.ly/2JnZqK5Lucy is being fostered in Lowell, Ma and the adoption fee is $500."Like" Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook! /brokentailrescue/https://youtube.com/shorts/ovRm0YNT3qU?feature=shareNOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lucy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
